Origin:
While the National Militias’ symbol is based on the Ukrainian trident, it was created specifically as an emblem of this particular organization.
Uses:
It is only used as an emblem of the National Militias and its affiliated political party, the National Corps.
Use as a hate symbol:
The emblem does not contain any previously established hate symbols, but because it is used exclusively by the radical right-wing paramilitary group, the National Guard, and its associated political party, the National Corps, the emblem itself can be considered a hate symbol.
The trident is the state symbol of Ukraine. Therefore, to be considered a hate symbol, the emblem must correspond exactly with the image above.
People who do not understand the radical right-wing connotations of this symbol may sometimes use it mistakenly.
